Cover Song of the Day with Disney’s “Let It Go”, here’s a bit more on Betraying the Martyrs‘ proper release, the album Phantom. It was released on July 14th and is available from all the usual places.
Betraying The Martyrs are based out of Paris, and feature from , Russia and the UK, which adds a unique dynamic to their songwriting. Their stunning debut offering, Breathe In Life, saw them make a huge impact throughout North America touring relentlessly on such high profile tours as RockStar Mayhem Fest and AllStars, amongst a slew of other club treks. There are few bands within the scene that can match BTM’s energy and intensity live and the new material is tailored made to their live performance.
Phantom is a strong release from a band that are just breaking through. While the majority of the music is very fast and heavy, there are plenty of atmospheric breaks. The track below and the Disney cover are very representative of what to expect.
Vocals are generally of the metalcore variety, with more harmonious ones in the aforementioned breaks. The first band I thought of to relate them to was BFMV, but BtM have a distinct sounds that does set them aside. The best word I have for it in my tired state is, aptly, “metallic”.
Genuinely impressive sophomore release.
