Yet another from the “catch up” pile, Awake The Riot popped up on my mp3 player while I was working in the garden this afternoon. I just had to get a review done when I got in – it’s brilliant… and also already available so you don’t even need to wait to buy your own copy!
Awake The Riot offers no surprises and it simply superb because of it. Simply, it’s twelve tracks of the highest quality thrash which any fan of the genre should be able to pick up and instantly feel at home with.
Hell, it’s so good that even though it was a first listen I was wanting to shout along to the chorus in “Beneath the Earth”. I can see this album being incredible live.
Sound-wise, the tone’s spot on. Fast, furious and slightly heavier than the treble-heavy balance of old. Easily on a par with their earlier material. Hell – it’s better!
Dust Bolt were Band of the Day in April last year on the strength their 2012 release, Violent Demolition.
