Eurovision Day 15: Macedonia / Malta

Eurovision 2015 192Each day in the run-up to the finals, we’re doing two tracks from the 2015 Eurovision Song Competition and tearing them to shreds analysing them carefully in a bid to predict the winner on May 23rd.

F.Y.R. MACEDONIA: Daniel Kajmakoski – “Autumn Leaves”

MOSH: If this song would make its mind up what it wanted to be, it could save itself from being so bad. Rousing rock ballad? Twee love song? Shitty boy band nonsense? Traditional campfire song? There are bits that remind me Shinedown, others that make me think of Take That. WTF? 2/5

DAVE: The last few songs have almost done me in, and then this arrives. Stick a fork in me and all that. “Autumn Leaves”….lucky Autumn. Give me strength. NUL PWA!

MALTA: Amber – “Warrior”

MOSH: What’s the point in having a drum-led song with a name like “Warrior” if you’re going to use a drum machine with crappy inbuilt samples? And have it sung by a woman who sounds like she’s five years old? Let Pat Benatar or Doro Pesch loose with this song and you’d probably have something worth listening to. 1/5

DAVE: Hold on…we’ve already had a song called “Warrior” and that was by the lovely Nina from Georgia. My mum always told me that if you can’t say anything nice then to say nothing at all. Oh Nina…. NUL PWA!
