Eurovision Day 8: Finland /

Eurovision 2015 192Each day in the run-up to the finals, we’re doing two tracks from the 2015 Eurovision Song Competition and tearing them to shreds analysing them carefully in a bid to predict the winner on May 23rd.

FINLAND: Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät – “Aina Mun Pitää”

MOSH: Finland. Finland, Finland, Finland. You’ve done it again. Bucking the trend, digging through the archives and asking “what’s not been done before?”. After destroying all and sundry before them with the mighty metal of Lordi some years ago, this time we get just under 90 seconds of heavy, discordant punk. Deserves full marks just for having the balls to flip its middle finger at the whole competition. 5/5

DAVE – I’m holding my hands up now and saying that I already knew what the Finnish entry was going to be. And I want this to win. “Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät” are a punk band made up of 4 guys, and they formed in a charity workshop for adults with developmental difficulties, and I’ve already seen internet ramblings about these guys being exploited to appear in the competition. They aren’t, and they have just as much right to be there as everyone else. Plus they fucking rock!! ALL THE POINTS!

: Lisa Angell – “N’oubliez pas”

MOSH: I know the rules say we can only listen to songs once before ing judgement, but I need to skip back to the beginning as this one sent me to sleep and I missed the end. The title translates to “Don’t Forget”, which is ironic given how instantly forgettable it is. 1/5

DAVE: Can someone wake me up please? This one is just over 3 minutes long so you’ve got time for a visit to the toilet when it gets introduced. You never know, you might produce something better in that time than have managed here. NUL PWA!
