As always, “mission one” here at MT is to get word out about new, smaller and independent acts. As such, we’re over the moon (as they used to say in football in the 70s) to be able to give you an early listen to the debut EP from Irish alt-metalers Death Can Wait. Here they are in their own words…
We are Death Can Wait, an alternative metal quartet from the South-East of Ireland. Coming from a small-town Ireland background, we have a lot to express in a genre that isn’t very popular in our part of the country.
Within a year of our existence, we set out to put these ideas and emotions onto a solid project. That project is about to be released under the title of Self Portrait. This six song EP is written with the intention of doing exactly what the name states. We wanted to make up a collection of our views of ourselves as a band and our purpose. What we found while writing the songs found on this project is that there are a lot of opposites in what we do.
We love to write songs with a blend of heaviness and energy. However, we also love to write songs with a deep personal meaning which turned out slower. These contrasts represent what we want to achieve as a band; we want to portray anger and energy but we also want to back it up with thought and emotion.
Self Portrait is out on the 25th of April
