Online Premiere/Review: Bad Moon Born – “Waves (Of The Wild)”

Sydney Alt-Rockers Bad Moon Born release their monstrous new single “Waves (Of The Wild)” tomorrow (29th October) and you can pre-save/order/whatever they call it these days now! “Waves” unleashes a storm of brisk, sharp modern metal juxtaposed with graceful melody and infectious vocal hooks that warrants repeat listens.

A glacial shift in style, “Waves” heralds a whole new era for Bad Moon Born. Showcasing a tantalising blend of heavy rock, metal and cinematic elements, the band is unafraid to explore drama, angst and vulnerability amongst the flurry of ferocious riffs, vibrant synthwork and a high impact rhythm section. Jordan Von Grae’s multi-octave vocals shine through the crushing heaviness to keep the listener intrigued with his tasteful interplay of clean and extreme vocals, call & response crescendos bolstered by magnificent choral layers. With a dynamic range of fresh material, Bad Moon Born deliver their exciting new sound that sits comfortably within the realm of Architects, Bring Me The Horizon, and Asking Alexandria.

We’ve had the chance to listen to it already and it’s a belter of a rock song. A great blend of hard hits, sharp hooks and melodies, it had my head banging particularly when the instrumental section kicked in right in the middle. The lyrics are worth paying attention to as well, meaningful without being preachy. But why take my word for it? Scroll down and hit “play”!

Von Grae speaks on the new single:

At its core, “Waves” is a song about giving up. The process leading up to the decision to surrender is exhausting and is something many of us have experienced to varying degrees. At the time of writing the track, we were feeling the full weight of a world in chaos whilst trying to manage a mental health crisis.

Like the previous singles in this series, “Waves” is a puzzle-piece belonging to a larger picture. The narrative running through this collection of songs is a deeply personal one, and the opportunity to tell it in 5 parts has been incredibly cathartic.

Embracing their sonic evolution, Bad Moon Born have established themselves as one of the finest Modern Rock acts on the East Coast; which saw them perform alongside Heavyweights such as Skid Row, Buckcherry, Hardcore Superstar, Pop Evil & more! Their recent single “Fallout” has been gaining global recognition amongst music fans and critics alike, landing the group in Homegrown & Heavy Spotify Editorial Playlist. With their recent g to Destroy All Lines for bookings in Australia & New Zealand and the release of ‘Waves’, Bad Moon Born are determined to stamp their identity on heavy music.
