Exclusive Track By Track: Far From Refuge – ‘False Flag’

Can  you believe we last talked to these guys five years ago? We exclusively checked in with rising UK progressive metallers, Far from Refuge, who set loose their powerful new EP, False Flag, on Friday 19th July. The band talked us through each track from the EP:

Carcass

In “Carcass,” a narrative of a failed romance unfolds, depicting betrayal and emotional turmoil. Memories haunt us, pushing us to resist reconciliation amid disillusionment. The age of time brings fading recollections, yet the ache of heartbreak endures. The song portrays the struggle to let go and the haunting remnants of lost love.

Daybreak

“Daybreak” is about overcoming adversity, rising from pain and lies to embrace inner strength. Rejecting negativity, we assert our autonomy, breaking free from doubt and oppression. The song emphasizes perseverance and liberation from apathy through self-awareness and resilience.

False Flag

With “False Flag” we delve into the existential realm, viewing life as a mere chemical concoction, but also as a problem with no solution. Amidst deceit and division, we try to confront lies and seek absolution through understanding. Through turmoil and revelations, we strive for inner strength and revolution against imposed narratives. The song exposes the fragility of existence and the pursuit of truth amidst chaos.

Ghost of Eros

“Ghost of Eros” explores the aftermath of heartache and rejection, with memories tethering us to a history of avoidable conflict. Even when encountering echoes of the past in new relationships, bitterness can rear its head, serving as a reminder of what went wrong and the challenges of moving forward.

Whitemane

“Whitemane” is about Sally Whitemane from WoW! We follow the dark persona of the antihero, embodying vengeance and power. We loosely follow her rise and fall from glory, and even from the realm of death how she unleashes destruction and death upon a forsaken world, hunting prey mercilessly. She commands her legion to stand in the face of terror, radiating the relentless force of their wrath.
