[avatar =”Mosh” size=”50″ align=”left” /]Creeping from darkest Manchester, My Wooden Pillow are a metal/hardcore/rock four piece who’ve recently released a four track EP called Uncomfortable. Which I guess a wooden pillow would be.
Starting as a little bit of a time-killer for guitarist Hassan, he soon realised that the tracks he was writing really needed a full band to have the most made of them so he hunted down and press-ganged Patrick McBride as bassist. Michelle Adamson and Chris O’Rourke took over vocal and drumming duties, by way of Fergus Henning, Dion Mills and Nikk Perros who filled these positions for a time.
Michelle’s vocals really stand out, especially given the variety of the band’s music. She chucks out melodic vocals as easily as a more deathy-growl, and is aided in the heavier material by Hassan and Patrick throwing in their bassier voices.
Uncomfortable is a damn good EP, not unexpected from a band that won their region’s Metal To The Masses competition in 2012, and it’s great to hear that they’re working on a full album due out early in 2016.
Check out the stream below of “Call For War”, my personal favourite from Uncomfortable. The whole EP is a bargain £1.50 if you fancy buying them a cheeky half pint.
