Five days in and our first new Band of the Day. Hailing from the continent are Belgian rockers, Rebel’s End…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
Rebel’s End is a Belgian rock band based in Antwerp.
How did you meet?
Drummer Dol and guitarist/vocalist Jeff James have been playing together since 2009 and are also currently active in the black metal band Panchrysia. We have been long time friends and even lived together for a short while.
Bassist Stijn and Jeff have a history playing in a fast and aggressive punk band called Cut here and have known each other from the local scene, going to shows and goofing around.
Lead guitarist Rutger is new to the band after rocking out in the band Elephant. We are super pleased with his experience in songwriting and fresh energy.
Our current line-up is all about friendship, the love for creating kick-ass music and the thrill of playing live.
How long have you been playing as a band?
We started out in 2015 and played our first gig in 2016. Since then we played some really great venues and released a debut album Seeing Red Seeing Dead and a video clip.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
Our band name plays a bit on the first rebel Lucifer being cast down from heaven and the fact we all, when aging, lose a bit of the rebel inside ourselves.
What are your influences?
We are inspired by bands such as Guns n’ Roses, The Misfits, WASP & Motörhead. We also love bands like Hardcore Superstar, Crashdiet and The Cruel Intentions. We have just one goal and that is to rock, as hard as we can.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Rebel’s End is a sleazy hard rock band with a punk attitude and some metal influences. We aim to bring catchy songs with some great hooks. We like to make rock music that sounds a bit dangerous.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
I guess our lyrics reside on the darker side of town. We draw influence from old horror movies, mythical creatures or even astrology and folklore. We just didn’t want to write about girls and booze anymore as other bands have done way too much before us.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
Expect an uncontrollable urge to stomp your feet and shake your head on some high energy rock ‘n roll. We play a set full of sing alongs from the first chorus till the last. We’ve played around 25 shows up untill now.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
We once went to a Ratos de Porão show at our local venue. They are a Brazilian crossover thrash/hardcore punk band from São Paulo. Everybody went crazy resulting in people diving off the counter and at one point a big pay telephone was ripped straight of the wall. Pretty crazy indeed.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
We trust in the power of Gibson Les Pauls, Fender basses, Ampeg amps and Mesa Boogie rectifiers.
What are your plans for 2018?
To play as much as we can , hopefully a few shows abroad like the Netherlands and in the UK. To finish up the recordings of our second album.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be ing and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
