Today’s band isn’t really a band, but hey – the questions are the same. Featuring a nice mix of musical styles, something a little different from our usual focus, one-man-act Croona is releasing a new single. In the meantime, here’s some more from the horse’s mouth…
Simple things first – where are you from?
Gothenburg/Sweden.
How long have you been making music?
I’ve been making music in this project since 2014, so four years now.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
That one is really simple, it’s actually my last name. I wanted something that was short and easy!
What are your influences?
My personal life and everything that has happened to me. Also music that I listen to, which mostly is metal nowadays. It might be hard to hear in my music since it’s 98% electronic, but much of my roots and inspiration comes from music I like.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
My music can be described as a mix of industrial/goth/futurepop, but I also like to throw in some other elements as well like trance and or a bit of metal (at least in my new single). I don’t think that I’m that unique, I just like to make music and I hope people will hear that when they listen to my songs.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
As stated above, a lot of my stuff is very personal and is based on past events in my life and also things that are on my mind. Everything depends on how I’m feeling at the moment.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
With this project I’ve only played once, but that’s gonna change I hope. In the past I’ve played maybe 30-50 shows in total throughout the years. I like to interact with the crowd and really get them going, that gives me the energy to really go all out and just give my everything.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
I haven’t done much wild stuff on stage to be honest. I always try to be energetic. One of the funniest things I’ve seen live was when I saw Turbonegro a few years ago and the singer threw a bucket of blood on the crowd in front of stage. That was hilarious.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
I don’t, I program everything. So I use cubase, vsts and a m-audio keyboard.
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
I’m about to release a new single called “Killing Me Again” it’s gonna be different compared to my old stuff. Mixing together different genres.
What are your plans for 2018?
Hopefully release my new album and also play some live shows. We’ll see how everything turns out.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be ing and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
I’d love to open for Slipknot and I’d love to have Motionless in White open for me. Otherwise I’d love to have my friends’ band Porque open for me.
