Continuing to bring you bands from all around the world, this one is as far away from us as possible. Unless you’re in Australia, in which case, they’re pretty close to you.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are from Melbourne, Australia!
How did you meet?
Well, the lead guitarist is my brother so I’ve grown up with him, we’re both very close. I met both our drummer and bass player a few years ago back when I used to work in the local music store, they were both good customers of mine.
How long have you been playing as a band?
I formed Chasing Lana around 6 years ago now.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
Yeah, we get that question a lot! It was kind of something I just came up with and it just stuck, we never really thought about it for too long. We just went with it.
What are your influences?
Personally my musical influences are bands like Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, Alter Bridge, Seether, Stone Sour, Breaking Benjamin. All those great hard rock/metal bands. Basically a little bit of the old school rock/metal and a little from the new.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
I’d describe our music as aggressive heavy rock. Having said that, we don’t really sound like any particular bands. We’re trying to have our own unique sound but still stay with the true elements of rock/metal that most people enjoy listening to.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
I tend to write a lot of my lyrics based around past relationships and break ups. A lot of betrayal and broken trust kind of themes.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
Way too many shows to count! When it comes to playing live we are very determined on being as raw and original as possible. We’ve never been that band who uses backing tracks or anything like that. When you see chasing Lana live, what you see is what you get. No fancy gimmicks or tricks, no computer generated effects, just a pure raw sound! We’ve been very lucky this year with having the pleasure of ing Saliva, P.O.D and Theory of a Dean here in Australia.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
My main guitars I use live are the PRS custom 22s. I love my PRS. They just feel and sound great! My current live rig at the moment is the Mesa Dual Rectifier Amp head which I run through a 4×12 Orange cabinet. Those two blended together sound huge!
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
We’ve just release a new single titled “Endless War”, which you can view on YouTube. You can also stream, purchase and/or on your preferred listener via our website.
What are your plans for 2018?
At the moment we are in the studio making our debut album, set to be released early next year. So that’s keeping us busy. We have a show in Adelaide the first week of November and possibly one last show in Melbourne before the years up.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be ing and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
Ah man, so many bands to name. I personally would love to one day open for Breaking Benjamin. They’re an all-time favourite band of mine. Or even Sevendust. To open the night I’d have our local mates Fight the Sun. They’re a pretty good rock band with some Shihad style vibes. That would be a killer show!
