Death metal doesn’t need to be serious, does it?
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are from Galway, Ireland.
How did you meet?
I (Padraig) grew up with our bass player (Jason Kealy), I heard of our drummer (Jay) through mutual friends two years ago and used to party with him, eventually asked him to help me start this thing.
How long have you been playing as a band?
Approximately 3 months. The material was written and recorded by me beforehand. Since then the guys have been learning their parts.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
Basically it started as a joke in school with our other degenerate friends, just a stereotypical death metal band called “Organ Blender” that reference blenders in every song, cheesy lyrics etc. just completely ridiculous… so years later here we are!
What are your influences?
Most likely: Cattle decapitation, Mr. Bungle, Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory, Pantera, Morbid Angel, Meshuggah, Thy Art is Murder…
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
At face value and image-wise we’re a straight up death metal band (cheese included). Our music, however, while very “death metal in parts mixes”, contains many different forms of heavy music from thrash to mechanical sounding industrial parts. Our interests lie in discovering new territory and achieving clarity in the live sound. Ambience and atmospheric layers setting a strong foundation in our shows, anyone looking for something “different” will be pleasantly surprised. Overall we have great songs that aren’t your typical verse, chorus, verse, chorus…
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
I’d say a good 80 percent involve blenders of some sort.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
Our live shows are beginning this December (TBC) before we plan a tour of the country shortly after. Our live show is not your standard affair, our show involves tongue-in-cheek death metal overtones. Our sound is comprised of heavy rhythm sounds re-enforced by thick ambience and samples that in the end shapes something very different and cohesive.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
In an horrible punk band I was briefly in we played a cover of “So What” (Metallica, Anti-Nowhere League), little did we know it was an acoustic covers show with dinner being served. No sooner had I got the words out “I’ve fucked a sheep, I’ve fucked a goat, I rammed my cock right down its throat…” I saw a woman half vomit back whatever she was eating. Needless to say our set was cut short…horrible gig, horrible band…
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
- I play a Jackson DK2M into a Maxon 808 into a Boss Katana, essentially
- Jay, our drummer, is a member of the SJC drum family
- Jason Kealy, our bass player, uses a five string Cort running a direct signal through our computer.
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
Currently we have just released our debut album Temple of Human Destruction free to stream in Soundcloud. Also we have just released our debut video “Between the Blades” on YouTube. Our album is for sale to on Bandcamp if you feel like ing.
What are your plans for 2018?
We will be embarking on our first few shows this December around Dublin and Galway (dates TBC). In the New Year we hope to have the opportunity to tour in both Ireland and abroad. As we are totally DIY we welcome any outside management/opportunities.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be ing and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
In a perfect world…opening for Meshuggah. We aren’t worthy for them to go before us but my pick is Cattle Decapitation as first band.
