Like your music eclectic and German-sounding, though actually based in ? We might have just the band for you today…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
Franz: We’re from Nice, French Riviera.
Guitarfox: Blue sea, bright sun and palm trees, not really the country of darkness our music is supposed to come from.
How did you meet?
Franz: We played in several bands or music projects for a long time. The music scene there is not so big, so everybody know everybody. When I received a proposition for playing at Cannes Industrial Festival I simply asked Guitarfox and Sandy Dynamite to SCHULTZ for a one shot. And it went well, so we stayed together. Too much love in this story!
Guitarfox: I confirm!
How long have you been playing as a band?
Franz: I have played in lot of bands before, starting SCHULTZ as a solo project and after, a duo lasting more than 10 years, and finally as a real band for 2 years.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
Franz: For my first gig in , the promoter asks me for the project name. I have chose a German name because all of the bands in this event were German. That simple!
What are your influences?
Franz: A lot of things from classical to punk, from French music to metal.
Guitarfox: Industrial metal for this project of course, but also a lot of things which has nothing to do with it.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Franz: Our music is a crossover of lot of things we listen to and love. Live, our music takes all his dimensions, with raw sound, video and live dance performance.
Guitarfox: Dark electronics with metal guitars, but we try to be eclectic enough to cultivate our own sound and personality. As Frank Zappa said, “If we can recognise your sound after a five second listening, this is 50 percent of the work”. I don’t know if we succeeded in this, personally I think so, but only you can say.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
Franz: Sex, and life in general.
Guitarfox: As Lemmy of Motörhead said, “The answer to life’s mystery is simple and and direct: Sex and Death!”
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
Franz: A crossover between power, testosterone, fetishism, darkness, guitar, scream, and industrial music. We have played only three shows together, but several are booked for the months.
Guitarfox: Raw sound, video and live dance performance. A total show we invite you to come and see…The best is always to come!
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Franz: Nothing, we are serious guys !
Guitarfox: Exactly! When you play drunk or stoned, you think you’re good, but you’re the only one to think it. The real madness is the show!
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
Franz: Laptop with music software and controller, nothing incredible.
Guitarfox: Marshall amp, Jackson guitar, and Boss Metal Zone pedal. But the most important thing is what I can do with it, whatever is the brand of the material.
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
Franz: Our new album of course! The first with Guitarfox and Sandy Dynamite. It is called Shot Of Pain, 12 killer tracks! Released the 6th of May on BLC Prods and available on bandcamp.
What are your plans for 2019 ?
Guitarfox: Promoting our new album of course !
Franz: Touring, playing live, meeting new people…
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be ing and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
Franz: Rammstein or shaârghot
Guitarfox: Any band famous or not we fit with!
