Hailing from alligator country, today’s Band of the Day…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are a little spread out with one of our living in Texas, another in Tampa, Florida. I would say generally that we call Central Florida home.
How did you meet?
Well, Chris and Cameron are brothers… so they met at their parent’s house.
Chris and I actually met because a mutual group of friends wanted to go this 2v2 Magic: The Gathering event and him and I ended up partnering up. We hung out for quite awhile after that, playing video games and trading card games before we even talked to each other about music.
How long have you been playing as a band?
We announced our band in June of 2019. However, we started writing what would be our first album in November of 2018.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
The great thing about how connected the world is right now with the internet is that dialogue can be started immediately and if enough people have ears to it, a real conversation can happen. The sad thing about it is that the same conversation can be depersonalized easily because there’s not a human being looking at you face to face. We wanted to address the struggles from day to day to the life/world changing issues that exist in front of us.
We were having this conversation on how important the message was to us, and Chris just blurts out “Our Sorrows!” We sat on it for a few weeks and just kept coming back to it.
What are your influences?
We draw a lot of influence from multiple sources in different genres that help in inspiring our music. Our influences can range from Blink 182 to Skid Row to Notorious B.I.G. From our genre though, I would say our major influences are bands like For The Fallen Dreams, The Amity Affliction, The Ghost Inside, and Memphis May Fire. A lot of our major inspiration for our music comes from the early 2000s Metalcore/Hardcore scene as well.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
I think what makes us unique is that we use a lot of that older style, early 2000s influence in our music so people get this real nostalgic feel but also we incorporate the new tones and feel of current groups in the genre. We also are very message forward with our music so the lyrics are something
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
The album we just dropped (Anima//Animus) is very centered on mental illness, the world that you can perceive to live in when lost in your episodes, and the impact it can have on you, your family, and friends.
We also really wanted to touch on some wordplay and imagery that can be taken differently upon inflection and perception, and looking back on it I think we did a really good job of that. Maybe it sounds cliché at this point, but honestly we just want everyone to know that they’re loved and that no single experience, illness, or choice defines you. We’re all more than that.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
We’re actually set to start off our live shows in February 2020, but you can expect a high energy and fun performance accompanied by some sweet fog machines and lights that we spent way too much money on.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
You ever seen a very sober, incredibly upset man return to a venue with a kendo stick and start teeing off on people? Well, that’s our answer.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
Our current setup is:

What are your plans for 2020?
We’re currently looking at dropping a few more singles and playing out as much as we can manage.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be ing and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
Honestly for us, I think it would mean the world to the guys in The Ghost Inside. What they’ve done before and are managing to do now is just incredible. I think if we were to get Steel Panther to open for us it would mean that we’re really onto something.
