Simple things first – where are you guys from?
St Ives, Cambridgeshire.
How did you meet?
Emma (vocals/guitar): Adi (drums) and I had met through a previous music project but didn’t really know each other before that, we later met Ali (guitar) through an advert and after one meet when asked him to the band. We later found a bass player from our local studio, he then chose to focus on family and other projects which is when we finally met Phil (bass) for an audition and the rest is history!
How long have you been playing as a band?
Emma: Around 3 years.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
Finding names for the band was really difficult as everything we came up with was super cheesy or cliche. I went to the library (there’s a first time for everything) and came across a book called ‘False Hearts’ and we all liked it!
What are your influences?
Emma: We take influences from bands like Halestorm, Audioslave, Black Stone Cherry.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Phil: Melodic power house rock. Heavy big riffs and vocals that hook you in for the ride.
Emma: The vocals style, melody and hooks!
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
Emma: Empowerment and mental health struggles.
What’s your live show like?
Emma: Our shows are full of energy and we always try to engage and have fun with the crowd.
How many shows have you played?
Emma: Last year was between 35-40 shows I think. And so many amazing venues and incredible people we met along the way.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Phil: For me I think when we played at crazy cowboy festival where band interviews were being held and spin the bottle was in place with some weird and horrible drinks.
Ali: I made myself a cup of tea and ironed a shirt once.
Adi: Playing a festival in a medieval church and getting handed beers by the hippie vicar.
Emma: Nothing too wild yet, I think Crazy Cowboy Festival when we got given some very strange drinks.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
Phil: I am the worst person to ask this question to! I have a heavily modified Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass as my main bass, a Fender Geddy Lee bass as a backup. I use an Orange ad200 head with an Orange 8×10 cab. Pedals I use are a fuel tank supply, sansamp bass driver, tc electronic tuner, ebs compressor, and a mxr custom line boost.

Ali: Phil will have you talking for days about gear… My go-to guitar at the moment is my PRS S2 Singlecut, just bought a Fender Telecaster so we’ll see how that goes.
Adi: Matte Black Pearl Masters Kit with Full Set of Sabian AAX and Dark Cymbals. Practice sticks are Techra Carbon Fibre and gig sticks are Vic Grip 5B Vic Firths
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
Emma: We have just announced our new EP Remedy which comes out on Friday 3rd April 2020. Alongside that we have just dropped one of the tracks from the EP called Misery Loves Company.
What are your plans for 2020?
Phil: To hit the road and tour the new EP and to play some awesome shows that are all booked in.
Emma: A busy year ahead with some great festival slots and hopefully some bigger slots around the country. Looking forward to our EP Remedy released on 3rd April.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be ing and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
