Another of our multi-talented solo artists for you, this one hailing from the home state of both Bowling For Soup and Pantera. If that ain’t a pedigree, we don’t know what is…
Simple things first – where are you from?
I’m from Texas.
How long have you been playing as a solo act?
I put out my first solo album Daniel Markham Ruined My Life in 2013.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
My Mom & Dad.
What are your influences?
I love all kinds of music. I’m really into David Lynch films and horror as a genre. I read a lot of true crime novels.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
I feel like I’ve never wanted to write music that fits into any kind of genre. I like stretching out and seeing what I can do with my music. I feel like it’s all about the songs for me. They tell me how they want to sound, and I do my best to capture that.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
I’m a skeptic and a practical joker. I think those things inform my writing a lot.

What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
It depends on if I’m playing with a band or by myself. If I’m playing with a band the show is your standard rock & roll show that lasts between 45 to 90 minutes. We mix originals with some covers. I’ve played so many shows. I’m not even sure how many I’ve played.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
I don’t feel like I should answer this question out of sheer self-preservation.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
For my solo shows I use a Gibson Hummingbird. For the live show I like to strap on my Epiphone Les Paul. I just bought a Gibson SG that I can’t wait to start using!
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
I just released my 8th album, Burnout, on October 30th. I’m super excited for it to be out there for people to listen to. You can get it from me directly through bandcamp.

What are your plans for the next 6 months or so?
I’m hoping that I don’t lose my mind completely. I’m also looking forward to getting back on the road. I have new music I’m working on as well.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be ing and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
I’d love to play with Deftones. I’d get Claire Morales from Denton, TX to open for me. She’s really great, and I think people would dig that show.
