Vocalist Paul Wandtke of Dead Original took the time out to answer our questions, just in time for the weekend…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are from Chicago, IL
How did you meet?
I grew up in high school with Mike Petrasik (our bassist) and our drummer Sean McCole was referred by Humes and Berg drum cases owner Mike Berg.
How long have you been playing as a band?
3 years
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
To stop the trend of bands with the name “Dead” in their name but now we’re a part of the problem.
What are your influences?
Miles Davis, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Greta Van Fleet.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Hard rock with grunge undertones. We are unique because we are just being a rock band, we don’t use tracks for live shows to embellish the music. LESS IS MORE!
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
Life struggles, addictions, love, typical rock band stuff!
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
We go all around the states! We recently toured with Candlebox before the pandemic happened.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Opening for Seether, I threw my guitar in the air and it came back down and left a 1-inch splinter in my left hand; ouch.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
We have endorsements with Westone audio for in-ears, Tama drums, Meinl cymbals, Evans Drum Heads, Vic Firth sticks, Mesa amps, Daddario strings, and we use Schecter and Fender guitars including a Gibson Baritone; it’s sick.

What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
Our current single “Bought and Sold” and our next single ‘LET IT BURN” which comes out Nov 20th in prep for our debut album that comes out Jan 08, 2021
What are your plans for the next 6 months or so?
Promote our album by playing shows even if it’s weekend warrior stuff with limited cap, got to do what we can!
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be ing and which band would you choose to open for you?
We’d love to tour with Alice in Chains with Greta Van Fleet as openers!
