Classic Covers: Harp Twins – Sweet Child o’ Mine

sweetchildomineThis rather attractive pair of harpists has popped up all over my facebook feed in the last week with various tracks ranging from Star Wars and Lord of the Rings medleys to Ozzy and Megadeth covers.

The twins, Camille and Kennerly, come from the US and are two of those incredibly annoying people who seem to be ridiculously talented at everything they attempt. One listen to any of their cover tracks (the first album, Harp Attack, came out in December 2013) will tell you how good they are at plucking those strings – as will the list of musical honours they’ve received. Then there’s the fact that they qualified for the Junior Olympics in swimming. Five times. In four strokes. They’re both proficient with a rifle and at riding horses. And they’re fluent in sign language, partly due to their work with disadvantaged children.

Oh, and don’t let their slight frames put you too much at ease. Try to put an unwanted move on either of these dainty ladies and you’ll find out the hard way that they’re both former Tae Kwon Do instructors with third degree black belts.

But back to the music. I picked G’n’R’s classic ballad as, out of the handful of tracks I flicked through on YouTube, it’s the one that worked best for me. Give it a listen and then browse the long list of related videos that comes up. As I said at the start, they don’t limit themselves to rock and metal covers.
