For clarity, this is a “reimagining” rather than a straightforward cover. Blacktop Mojo have taken the breezy, carefree original and really thrown a dark shroud over it. The change in tone gives the song an almost alternate meaning – pretty impressive. Originally released on Monday 14th Feb for some reason, the band have played the song live recently as well.
Celebrating love while acknowledging the potential for loss, front-man Matt James delivers an intensely emotional vocal performance, with the band providing an incredibly modern, bluesy backdrop on the iconic classic. The single will be available to purchase / stream on February 25, 2022.

We all know this song. It’s a song that comes on the radio or starts playing in the background as you’re in the grocery store and immediately you begin to hum along and have visions of the new girl you’re falling head over heels for, and you feel all the warm fuzzy feelings she gives you, welling up inside. Our version of the song is when you fast forward into that relationship with the same girl that gave you all that warmth and sunshine, but she’s up and left you and taken the ‘Month of May’ with her.
