Yes, that Ice-T. No, I didn’t interview him.
This one’s a bit of a cheat, but it shows how labels get one of their biggest stars to get interviews out around loads of places in next to no time. There is no Santa Claus magic in effect here, more smoke and mirrors.
A tape was sent to the station with Ice-T answering questions. A large gap between each “response” made it easy to edit and splice in the radio station’s own presenter “asking” the questions from a script enclosed with the cassette.
I never did use the interview on-air as I felt it was cheating a bit. I’m convinced I have the transcript / script somewhere, though, but it’ll be buried in a box somewhere if I do. A shame as it would give both halves of the conversation! If I do find it, I’ll scan it and publish it.
In the meantime, here’s Ice-(mutha-fuckin’)-T’s answers. Oh, and a bit of news – it appears that Body Count will be back with a fifth album later this year or early next. Whoop!
