[avatar =”Mosh” size=”50″ align=”left” /]Prior to their opening slot for Skindred and Steel Panther at the Academy in Glasgow I was lucky enough to be shoved into a tiny room with the three pocket-rockets who make up The Lounge Kittens. Jenny, Timia and Zan shot to internet stardom with their video for “Rollin'” which was only done as a joke for their mates. A few months later and they were singing it in front of over 50,000 people as they opened the main stage for Limp Bizkit at Sonisphere.
As well as asking about this we talked about losing their Glasgow virginities, how the band got together, how they pick the songs they cover and who is the most talented in the group… a question they tackled with great diplomacy! Also, the Kittens dropped some hints about what European fans can expect when they hop over the Channel and take the main position for the remainder of the tour.
I had a great time talking to the ladies and they went on to give a great show later that day. Here’s hoping they get the chance to come up here again sometime soon and perhaps headline a venue more suited to their musical style. Ross suggested the Classic Grand and I think he’s spot on, or failing that the Oran Mor would be a good choice.
In the meantime, you can order their EP Just The Tip via their website or pick it up at a show if you’re going to see them over the next couple of weeks. It’s also available through Amazon and iTunes, despite Bono not helping them it to every Apple device in existence. Selfish Bono.
