Sittin’ Heavy, was unleashed to the public last week. Guitarist Jeremy answered a few questions we had about it as well as their touring plans, how they’ve grown since the debut and that video.
Hi, hope you’re keeping well! First of all, congratulations on the new album. It’s excellent! For those who may have never heard of Monster Truck, how would you describe the band’s sound?
We were attempting to combine all of our classic rock and modern rock favourites in a very basic and high energy combination of riff rock and classic rock.
Sittin’ Heavy is fresh still recognisably Monster Truck. As a band, is that something you hope to do, rather than covering old ground?
I think we were attempting to do both. We wanted to take what was familiar and successful about previous releases but at the same time expand upon it in a way that was a comfortable evolution for everyone.
It’s been a few years since Furiosity but you’ve been kept busy, haven’t you?
It’s been very easy to keep busy with all the amazing opportunities we be afforded. Lots of memorable tours and festival plays!
The list of bands you’ve been on tour with is rather impressive; did you find any of them influenced this new album?
It would be impossible to have them not influence us. It’s always been an amazing time opening for the likes of such legendary artists and we’ve been able to gain an immeasurable amount of knowledge and creativity from those experiences.
You’re doing a brief tour through Europe including a night in London. Can we expect a full tour at some point?
I think so! I know there’s a constant amount of planning and work going into touring plans and UK and Europe are at the top of the list.
How did the idea for the video for the lead single from Sittin’ Heavy “Don’t Tell Me How to Live” come about?
It was actually a gravel pit and I’m not even sure what the machinery is called but it was an idea that our manager, Olly, came up with. He wanted a big music video and that’s what we got!
You’re touring Canada soon with The Temperance Movement. Having seen them recently in Glasgow, I have to say, they’re playing better than ever!

As we already discussed, you’ve got a couple of tours set in stone, what else is planned for the band?
More tours! More festivals! See you soon!
