Interview: The Crazy Juggler’s Prog Orchestra

Swiss progressive rock band The Crazy Juggler’s Prog Orchestra released another in their series of concept albums in 2015, titled “Planet Euphoria – Part 1.” The band wanted to create a paradise-like Planet called Euphoria, where all the characters from the story come together for the first time.

Hey folks. How are you doing?

Hey, we’re doing fine, thank you.

You released “Planet Euphoria – Part 1” in 2015. How do you feel about the release?

We feel great about, the reactions are very positive. It’s overwhelming to get s from around the world.

How much of a challenge was it to work on the album?

This time, it was a huge challenge, because we’ve been working on that album for over two years. But we had a lot of fun in the studio and we’re lucky that we’ve created an album that everyone of us is proud of in the end. It’s motivating to work on with the second part of the album for the next two years.

How is the prog rock scene these days in Switzerland?

It’s very difficult to spread Progressive Rock in Switzerland, because it’s a little country which prefers more the regional folk music. But we think and hope that the prog scene is also growing in Switzerland.

What is your opinion about the new wave of prog bands?

It’s great and confirms us, what we’ve told years before: The prog scene is coming back, because there’s no other music genre worldwide as limitless and various as Progressive Rock.

Can you tell me something about your influences?

It’s all about the 70’s prog giants (Genesis, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, etc.) and about the modern prog heroes (Dream Theater, The Flower Kings, etc.) It’s our mission to always find a way to combine these two different generations of prog music.

What are you listening to these days?

At the moment, I’m listening to Neal Morse and all his other projects. Great music, especially for people who want to start in progressive music. And with great expectations we’re waiting on the new Dream Theater album…

Your five favourite records of all time?

Selling England By The Pound (Genesis) / Thick As A Brick (Jethro Tull) / The Wall (Pink Floyd) / Scenes From A Memory (Dream Theater) / The Theory Of Everything (Ayreon)

Besides the release of the album, are there any other plans for the future?

Yes. We make a little regional tour this year here in Switzerland, and Austria. During that time, we re-record our “The Utopia EP”, which is sold-out and needed to get re-arranged. The release will be later that year. And we’re also recording the demo-tracks for “Planet Euphoria – Part Two” at the moment, come out in 2017.

Any words for the potential new fans?
