Here we go again… Last year we covered every band on the Hobgoblin New Blood and Jagermeister stages in the run-up to Bloodstock 2015. This year, we’re going one better and aim to have interviews from all the bands on those two stages as well as all of those on the SOPHIE stage prior to the event kicking off on August 11th. That’s almost 100 interviews to get online for you lucky people over the course of the next couple of weeks. I bloody love this job, but you lot owe me a beer at Catton Hall, right?
Thanks to all the bands who’ve taken the time to respond!
Chasing Dragons – Jagermeister stage, Friday
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We’re from Leeds, UK.
How did you meet?
Social media and Gumtree!
How long have you been playing together as a band?
In our current line up? Just over a year. Since our conception, early 5 years.
Where does the name of the band come from?
Haha our obsession with medieval video games! We’re all giant nerds secretly…
What are your influences – individually or as a band?
As a band we don’t have overall influences; we see it as better to be a sum of your parts, so each of us brings individual influences. You might hear the likes of Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, Dream Theatre, Annie Lennox, Pink, Brody Dalle, Halestorm, A Day To …
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Ah now unique is a tough one… We wouldn’t say we’re unique; we certainly haven’t invented anything new! However we are honest, ballsy and true to our own sound. We play metal with a dash of hard rock and some punk thrown in for good measure. Screaming solos, pounding rhythms and vocal harmonies to make your heart soar, that’s us.
What’s your live show like – why should the baying hordes troop over to the stage you’re playing on to watch you?
Our live show again is honest; we like to give our crowds a piece of us to take with them from our shows. We’re not overly showy, we just like to make them feel like family. They are after all, the ones that keep us going! Expect a lot of head banging, the occasional pit and plenty of emotion!
When/how did you find out you’d been selected to play at Bloodstock?
We were invited to play by the organisers back in June! It was out of the blue and completely incredible; we’re so honoured to be asked!
What sort of setlist can we expect?
One that shows you our colours, has you singing along and makes you us…
Which main stage band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
Ooh well we’re on on the Friday and personally I’ve (Tank) been a Corrosion Of Conformity fan for years and never managed to catch them live… Fingers crossed here’s my chance!
What are you working on at the moment?
Our debut album Faction. We released a teaser for this back in March, “Faction:Prologue” that people can find on our website.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done on tour?
Hmmm… Tough one! Well, we once played a full electric show in a Tearoom!
What advice would you give to a young band just starting out today?
Play everywhere, be professional, be nice to fellow bands and leave your egos at the door!
If you could be part of any 3-band line-up who else would you have on the bill? One band above you and one below – a chance to plug a smaller, unsigned act!
- Nothing More
- Us
- OATHS
What stage / time are you playing at Bloodstock (if you have your slot yet!)
We’re playing the Friday but as yet, that’s all we know! Keep your eyes on the official page for more updates…
