Here we go again… Last year we covered every band on the Hobgoblin New Blood and Jagermeister stages in the run-up to Bloodstock 2015. This year, we’re going one better and aim to have interviews from all the bands on those two stages as well as all of those on the SOPHIE stage prior to the event kicking off on August 11th. That’s almost 100 interviews to get online for you lucky people over the course of the next couple of weeks. I bloody love this job, but you lot owe me a beer at Catton Hall, right?

Visions of Disfigurement – Hobgoblin New Blood Stage, Sunday
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
The band was formed and is based in Manchester UK, but individually we’re originally from Cheshire and Nottingham.
How did you meet?
Our drummer (Ben) and bassist (Adam) have known each other for years, and we discovered our vocalist (Dan) and guitarist (Judd) online when we started off the band fully.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
Our first show was in December of 2014, so just under 2 years.
Where does the name of the band come from?
Our drummer (Ben) came up with the name about a year before we actually started playing shows when it was still an internet based band.
What are your influences – individually or as a band?
As a band, our main influences are a mixture of different styles of metal such as death metal, hardcore, as well as the more obvious BDM styles.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We’re predominantly a death metal band, with slam mixed in with it. We’re not straight up death metal, or straight up slam… a mixture of both is the best way to describe us.
What’s your live show like – why should the baying hordes troop over to the stage you’re playing on to watch you?
It’s intense. We try and create the most devastating performance possibly, and we mean that in the good way haha.
When/how did you find out you’d been selected to play at Bloodstock?
We got put through in the final of the Metal to the Masses competition in Liverpool earlier this year.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
A mixture of some of our older songs, as well as some new songs that have not been released yet.
Which main stage band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
Luckily we’re the first on the Sunday so we wouldn’t clash with anyone, but it does mean we’ll probably miss Ghost Bath which we’re a bit gutted about.
What are you working on at the moment?
Our first full length is coming out August 24th so have been working on that all year!
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done on tour?
Probably just house parties after shows which are always a great laugh
What advice would you give to a young band just starting out today?
Take every gig opportunity you can, a good rep with promoters can work you wonders.
If you could be part of any 3-band line-up who else would you have on the bill? One band above you and one below – a chance to plug a smaller, unsigned act!
