#ROADTOBOA2017 – Blind Haze

As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 10th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for!

Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.

Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!

Blind HazeSophie Lancaster Stage, Sunday

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

John: The womb.

Conan: Conan, bass & vocals from Leeds. Jason, drums from Huddersfield. John, guitars from Bury.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

Conan: The band formed around 2014 after me and Jason left our previous band. John came on board as our new guitarist in 2016.

Where does the name of the band come from?

Jason: Nosey!

Conan: We were racking our brains for a decent band name, Think I came up with ‘Blind something or other’ and Jay came up with ‘something Haze’ …ended up sticking the two together and it worked well.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Conan: It obviously has that straight forward heavy metal feel, but also the groove and swing from Jason’s drumming, and John’s catchy riffs hopefully help it stand out from the crowd.

Jason: We all have different influences but what we do isn’t anything new. You’ve heard it all before, just not from us!

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?

Conan: Because we’re fucking ace… usually after a skinful, we’re full of energy and absolutely hilarious in-between songs.

Have you played Bloodstock before? If so, when?

Conan: I think it was 2015 we last played Bloodstock, Sunday on the Jäger stage… we had a few birds invade the stage and dance with us.

Jason: I felt fucking rotten.

How/when did you find out that you’d be playing the SOPHIE stage?

Conan: Sometime between last year’s and this year’s Bloodstock.

What sort of setlist can we expect?

Conan: A short long set with really fast slow songs, with themes mainly about the plight of British dairy farmers and underpaid rust repairers.

Which main stage band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?

Conan: Duran Duran

Jason: Obituary

John: I am a Ghost super fan, I have all their masks. Their best album is Iowa but I like the song “My Way” the best.

What are you working on at the moment?

Conan: Well the weather is quite nice today, so I shall be mainly working on my summer tan.

John: The shit coming out of my arse. Plop!

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

Conan: We once managed to find a herd of wild mountain goats, dressed them up in our clothes and let them play the entire set… Nobody was the wiser.

John: Drank a beer.

Jason: John once drank a beer.

Jäger, Hobgoblin Ale, Kraken, Kingstone Press Cider, Kaltenberg Beer or Bulleit Bourbon? And, yes, we’ll be counting all the votes!

Conan: Special Brew and Buckfast

Jason: Stella

John: Water
