As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 10th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for!
Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.
Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!
Corpsing – Sophie Lancaster Stage, Friday
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are originally from London.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
Bloody ages! Corpsing formed in 2000 and our first and second albums were released in 2005 and 2007, we disbanded in 2007 and after ten years in hibernation we are back!
Where does the name of the band come from?
I first heard of the word “corpsing” from a book by Toby Litt. It’s theatrical slang for unintentionally breaking character by laughing, this is really cool because we love laughing a lot. A sense of humour is paramount and it sounds cool too!
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We listen to many different types of metal and music in general, so we like to mix things up a lot in our brand of extreme metal from a death/black/thrash/doom sonic assault to flowing flamenco and more.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band
Our live show will be hard hitting and straight to the point. Get ready to bang your heads and go for it in the pit!
Have you ever played Bloodstock before? If so, when?
We have never played Bloodstock before.
How/when did you find out that you’d be playing the SOPHIE stage?
We found out a couple of months ago that we were going to play Bloodstock and we are beyond happy to play the number one UK metal festival!
What sort of setlist can we expect?
We will be playing all our new material from our recently released EP called Regnum as well as some older songs.
Which main stage band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
Testament, Decapitated and Amon Amarth.
What are you working on at the moment?
At the moment we are busy rehearsing our live set and also working on some new material.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
I was playing a gig years ago and at one point I looked at the crowd and someone in the pit was moshing like a lunatic wearing a white motorbike helmet! Priceless!
Jäger, Hobgoblin Ale, Kraken, Kingstone Press Cider, Kaltenberg Beer or Bulleit Bourbon? And, yes, we’ll be counting all the votes!
Jäger – yes, Hobgoblin Ale – yeah OK, Kraken – our special K, Kingston press cider – only on weekends, Kaltenberg beer – how dare you, Bulleit bourbon – made out of it!
