As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 10th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for!
Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.

Courtesans – Sophie Lancaster Stage, Friday
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
England, Ireland, Poland and Holland but the band’s HQ and its heart is in London.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
It’s been five years now! Partyyyyy!
Where does the name of the band come from?
The idea came from a member of the band who sadly parted ways with us at an early stage of the project, but we will always cherish the memories.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
It could be our unruly approach to songwriting which results in genre bending madness, darkness and an undeniable musical freedom. It could be our love for each other, or maybe just because we are a bunch of misfits and many people can relate to that.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Emotionally charged and intense, like a good double espresso it might make you feel slightly unsettled. As per the second part of the question – we don’t know if people will choose to watch us instead of another band but we can assure you – we will put the proverbial stick covered in musical marmite in the brutal cogs of metal.
Have you played Bloodstock before? If so, when?
We are Bloodstock performance virgins. This will be the biggest festival we have played up to date! Growing up as grebo, punk and grunge kids, it’s our teenage dreams come true.
How/when did you find out that you’d be playing the SOPHIE stage?
Our manager Howard asked us to sit down as he had some news. He said, “How do you feel about playing Bloodstock?” In response Sinéad presented pretty much full-blown heart attack symptoms, Saff puked everywhere, Vikki’s eyes suddenly turned anime and Agnes ripped all her clothes off and started dancing naked. The additional joy was brought by the news that we will be performing on the S.O.P.H.I.E stage which stands for diversity and that’s exactly what you get with us. We are a bit different and if that’s something that interests you even if it’s not your usual taste then come and us at Sophie Lancaster stage on Sunday.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Sweet and sour, we will be playing our recently released EP Better Safe Than Sober and a few older tracks from our album 1917. We are currently working on the new LP and you might hear a couple of tracks that will give you a flavour of things to come.
Which main stage band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
King 810 who we know we are not clashing with as they are playing on Saturday! Happy days!
What are you working on at the moment?
As we’ve given it away a couple of questions back, we are working on the new LP which might be our maddest creation up to date as it applies monkey logic.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
We guess Agnes has tendencies to play naked covered only in black paint but Rammstein’s rubber cock ejaculating liquid all over the audience has to be the one! We are yet to come up with some crazy shit that beats them haha.
