As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 10th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for! This year we’re also having a word with the acts playing in the VIP area!
Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.
Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!
Mist – Hobgoblin New Blood Stage, Sunday
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are from Slovenia – a small but beautiful country right in the heart of continental Europe.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
It has been more than half a decade actually, and we’ve loved every second of it. There are always ups and downs but you learn to love both equally.
Where does the name of the band come from?
It was a challenge to find a name to describe us best, but I believe ‘Mist’ does it perfectly. It’s mysterious, dark, cold but also not too strong or threatening, there is some mystique in it and a feminine tone. We fell in love with it from the first time it came up.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We like to keep our music natural, raw. The riffs reflect the themes of our lyrics – spellcasting, nature, ceremonies… Our music is rough and dark whereas the vocal is brighter and strong, this contrast is what defines us.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
We put so much energy into our live performances, it’s our favourite part of being a musician. Each one of us experiences the music differently and we all do exactly what we feel like doing. It’s amazing to see how the crowd gets pulled into our energy.
Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
We have never been to Bloodstock before which makes it an even bigger adventure and a challenge, we are looking forward to it!
What sort of setlist can we expect?
The decision has been made to play a few unreleased songs from the album which we are truly excited about. The rest is classic Mist to those who know us, and an enigma to those who don’t.
Which main stage band do you most hope you’re not squished up next to so you can see them play?
Ghost are definitely in first place here, and I have to mention classics like Annihilator, Kreator, Megadeth…we also hope to discover some new bands at the festival, we’ll definitely be scouting!
What are you working on at the moment?
We just finished recording our first full-length album and are looking forward to the release in the Autumn.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done on tour?
We saw some crazy stuff while touring the UK two years back but most of it is for our ears only! Sorry!
Jäger, Hobgoblin Ale, Kraken, Kingstone Press Cider, Kaltenberg Beer or Bulleit Bourbon? And, yes, we’ll be counting all the votes!
We are voting for Hobgoblin Ale!
