Ramage Inc were the first band of the weekend to play on the Sophie stage on the Thursday at Bloodstock 2017. On the Saturday, we caught up with frontman Brian for a quick chat about their performance and also how the work on their new album is progressing. Read on for the full transcription…

You had the unenviable task of opening up the festival on the Thursday. How was it for you guys?
I’d disagree. I’d say it was quite enviable and a fantastic opportunity for us. We were catered for very well and it was arguably one of the best gigs I’ve ever played in my life. It’s a thrill to be invited back to play the festival again and we couldn’t say no, of course!
Compared to last year, what differences would you say there are here?
I’ve not really noticed any aside from there being more people! It’s still got the family feeling and the same vibe as last year. I love Bloodstock and everyone is so friendly to each other. It’s very warm and humbling being here. Literally warm as my head’s burning even with factor 50 on!
I gather that you are working on some new material at the moment. How’s that going?
We were hoping to have our new album out before Bloodstock this year but since our performance last year at Bloodstock, a lot of doors have opened for us. As a result, we’ve ended up playing lots more cool gigs and we haven’t had chance to get into the studio yet. We’ve got the album all written and ready, we just need to record it in the studio. I’ll be taking some off in September to get into the studio and we’ll hopefully have it released at the beginning of next year.
Are their any bands you’re looking forward to catching across the weekend?
I caught Amon Amarth yesterday which were really good. Their stage-show was incredible with all their pyro and everything else. I’m looking forward to catching Skindred and Arch Enemy tomorrow. They should be good fun.
Describe the band in 3 words.
Melodic, metal-ish and different. We’re not all “GRR-argh! Satan! I hate my neighbour”. We’re more relaxed about it and can technically be considered a ‘Friendly neighbourhood metal band’.
