You’re playing on the main stage soon. Are you looking forward to that?

Of course. It’s always nice to be playing on the main stage in the afternoon at festivals. Do you know the US Festival?

I’ve heard of it…

Yeah, it was a big festival in the USA back in the 80s. It had bands like Mötley Crüe, Judas Priest, Van Halen playing and to us that is the epitome of a main stage lineup. So to be playing on the main stage at a festival to us is always something special.

The latest official album was The Ride Majestic, however the latest release was Death Resonance. How do you feel the response has been to them?

Everyone we’ve talked to has said they’re really good. I guess the people who don’t like it haven’t come up to us! But no, it’s hard to say but folk seem to have been enjoying it. Soilwork has been around for almost twenty years and our sound has changed quite a lot but we like it. You occasionally get the haters that are like “Steelbath Suicide is the best album. The rest of them suck!” Maybe they’re right you know… but we are trying! I know that some people like it though and the fans we know personally like it.

You changed drummer about a year ago now. How do you feel he’s been settling in?

I think he’s been settling in really well. He’s got a slightly different approach than Dirk but he’s super tight and a really nice guy to be around. I’m looking forward to doing a new album with him soon to see what he brings to the table.

What are the band’s plans for the next few months?

We’ve got one more festival left this summer and then we’re going to be taking some time off to write some new stuff. We’ve been doing festivals pretty much every weekend now so it’ll be nice to have a free weekend for once!

Describe the band in three words.

Interesting, talented and original.
