Prior to their performance on the New Blood Stage on the Sunday at Bloodstock, we had a quick chat with Netherhall about their reaction to winning Metal 2 the Masses and also their plans for the next few months. Read on for the full transcription…
You’re playing the New Blood stage later on today. Any nerves?
A couple but not too many. It’s not really sunk in yet that we’re playing at Bloodstock but no doubt as it approaches the nerves will appear!
What was the felling like when you won?
It was euphoric and surreal. We couldn’t believe it to be honest. We said from the beginning that we wanted to get to the final and to play it and then to win it, was something we couldn’t believe at all.
Hobgoblin, Kraken or Jäger?
There’s a split in the band. Some of us are Hobgoblin, some of us are Jäger. Or you can add them all together and have the ‘Bloodstock cocktail’.
Is this your first time here at Bloodstock?
Some of us are having their first time and some of us were here last year when Gojira and Mastodon played. And now Gojira are headlining which is awesome!
What are your opinions of it so far?
It’s been great to be honest. The whole experience has been amazing and you can turn the corner and end up in a conversation with someone who you’ll be friends for life with. We’re definitely coming back next year as we’ve had such a good time.
What would you change about Bloodstock?
Probably more taps around the arena for water. Aside from that, there’s nothing else as it’s been an amazing weekend.
What are your guys plans for the next few months?
We’re going to be taking some time off to write some new music and hopefully get into the studio to record it. That’s our main aim for now and then maybe play some gigs in between. We’ll wait and see what happens though.
Describe the band in 3 words.
Ambient, space, heavy. A buncha influences.
