The Infernal Sea were among some of the bands that opened up the festival on the Thursday at Bloodstock last weekend. On the Friday, we caught up with two of the for a quick chat about their performance and what they think caused the festival to sell out this year. Read on for the full transcription…

Is this your first time at Bloodstock?
This is our second time here as we headlined the New Blood Stage back in 2013. That was a really good performance and elevated us to new heights as well introducing us to a bigger crowd. To be invited to play again and this time on the Sophie Stage is an honour.
What bands are you looking forward to seeing?
Inquisition mainly. There’s a lot of other good bands as well across the weekend so we’re going to try and see a mixed bag of them. Testament should be good as well.
This is the first year the festival has sold out. What do you reckon has caused this?
Probably because of the variety of bands that are playing. They are doing a great job and they don’t really need to change anything about it. The fact they give smaller bands a chance to play a gig on this level is great and for some bands it’ll be the biggest gig they will ever play.
If you had to compile the bands for next year who would pick?
If we were going down the black metal route, we’d have to say Satyricon, Emperor and maybe try and get Darkthrone to play. Also, Manowar as it’s good to keep variety.
