#RoadToWildfire2018 – Stoneface

Much like we endeavour every year before Bloodstock, this year, for Scotland’s Wildfire Festival which kicks off on 22nd June, we’re interviewing every band set to play the stages of Wiston. You get to hear (or read) right from the horse’s mouth who you should be watching over the course of the weekend.

Previous years have seen some excellent acts grace the stages as our reviews can attest to and trust us when we say this year is no different! So get reading and listening so you can plan your coffee/beer/food breaks accordingly…

Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!

Stoneface

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We consider ourselves a Glasgow band. We’re not all originally from there but it was Glasgow and its rock scene that brought us all together.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

We’ve been in and out of bands totgether for at least 20 plus years, however this version is about 3 years into its run.

Where does the name of the band come from?

There are, we believe, some interesting Urban Dictionary definitions of what Stoneface is or refers to but that didn’t influence our choice of the name…honest!

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Maybe not unique, but we’re honest and our songs probably reflect our life experiences. We’re older gentlemen so we’ve definitely lived it and bought the shirt.

What’s your live show like? Why should people watch you?

Hot, sweaty and we give it our all. No gimmicks just a belief in leaving everything on the stage.

Have you played Wildfire before? If so, when?

Never played it before, but it’s always been high on our wish list of places to play. I’ve been lucky enough to go and had a fantastic time.

What sort of setlist can we expect?

Some songs from our debut album and a whole list of songs that we’re planning on recording very soon.

Which band are you most looking forward to seeing?

Vega, as we are good friends with Hutch their drummer. Deever, Hellbound Hearts, Samarkind, Massive Wagons. It may be easier to say them all as there are plenty we haven’t watched live yet.

What have you got planned for the second half of 2018?

We’ve a couple of shows in the pipeline, and we’re always open to offers. Ideally, we’ll start getting things together for album number two.

What’s been the highlight for the band’s career so far?

The entire thing has been a highlight, having the opportunity to play with so many great bands over the years has been fantastic. Mason Hill, Stone Broken, Kane’d, Massive Wagons. Without a doubt, Wildfire will be right up there.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

Luckily most of our wildest antics happened before social media…we’d be happy to fill you in over some rum…if you’re buying…and definitively off the record!

If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be ing and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!

Wow, ok. Opening, easy –  Saints of Arcadia. We always have a fantastic time with those folks. Headlining, who wouldn’t we want? Definitely bands from our youth such as Kiss, Thin Lizzy, Skid Row, Twisted Sister. Now that would be fun.

What day/time are you playing at Wildfire? (If you have your slot yet!)

As yet we haven’t been given our slot yet.

Pistonhead Lager, Cloven Hoof rum or Thistly Cross cider? And yes, we’ll be counting the votes!

Hoof every time. Although we’re very open to bribery.
