#RoadToWildfire2018 – The Rocket Dolls

Much like we endeavour every year before Bloodstock, this year, for Scotland’s Wildfire Festival which kicks off on 22nd June, we’re interviewing every band set to play the stages of Wiston. You get to hear (or read) right from the horse’s mouth who you should be watching over the course of the weekend.

Previous years have seen some excellent acts grace the stages as our reviews can attest to and trust us when we say this year is no different! So get reading and listening so you can plan your coffee/beer/food breaks accordingly…

Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!

The Rocket Dolls

Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are from Brighton!

How long have you been playing together as a band?
We formed in March 2008 and are now in our 10th year!

Where does the name of the band come from?
We saw something on MTV2 or something really late at night with Ricky Rockett from Poison with some half naked girls and he said “These are my Rocket Dolls baby, woo!” We thought it was ridiculous but The Rocket Dolls sounded rad! So that’s how it came about.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We are old school in our approach, the biggest ego in the room must always be the song and it stays that way. We write about very personal things like anxiety and depression and inner struggles and fights which we think, instead of writing about “chicks & partying”, is much more real and ionate and relatable!

What’s your live show like? Why should people watch you?
We are a different animal live and throughout our DeaDHeaD UK tour people kept saying the record was great but they couldn’t believe how amazing it was live; the songs are completely different live with their feel!

Have you played Wildfire before? If so, when?
No we haven’t and we are beyond excited for it!

What sort of setlist can we expect?

Explosive, powerful, loud, groovy and full of heart!

Which band are you most looking forward to seeing?

It’s gotta be Massive Waggons! The guys are all legends and they rip it live!

What have you got planned for the second half of 2018?

We are writing the third record and hopefully working with some amazing and talented people and releasing a new video for “The Last Thing On My Mind” off DeaDHeaD. Maybe a cover for YouTube, we plan on being the busiest we’ve ever been!

What’s been the highlight for the band’s career so far?

Probably playing our biggest UK tour to date seeing loads of new faces coming to the shows

If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be ing and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!

We’d love to open for Alice In Chains and have Big Wreck go on before us! Or open for Nickelback and have Graces Collide go on before us!

What day/time are you playing at Wildfire? (If you have your slot yet!) We have no idea yet!

Pistonhead Lager, Cloven Hoof rum or Thistly Cross cider? And yes, we’ll be counting the votes!

Dudes, come on Cloven Hoof, every damn time! Raise the Hoof!
