#RoadToBOA2018 – True Believer

As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 9th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for!

Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.

Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!

True BelieverJagermeister Stage, Sunday

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

Melbourne, Australia.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

We formed True Believer in 2017 but we have been playing on and off in different bands together since 2010.

Where does the name of the band come from?

We basically compiled a list and whittled it down to an option everybody was happy with. True Believer worked thematically where we wanted to go with the band’s imagery and sound.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

From the beginning we always wanted to create weighty, guitar driven occult rock. We’ve all played in thrash/death metal bands over the years so sometimes, some of that shines through. True Believer has rhythmic tempos with plenty of classic harmonised guitar lines and vocal hooks.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?

We consider our live show a worship, where we too are merely worshippers. True believer channels a dark energy with plenty of interaction, excitement, loud guitars and SATAN!

Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?

No, this will be our first Bloodstock but we are very happy to be a part of it.

What sort of setlist can we expect?

We’ll open with the single “My Satan” which will then set us up for a half-hour journey into the world below.

Which other bands do you most hope you’re not squished up next to so you can see them play?

It is always great to see Judas Priest and At The Gates are a band favourite but we’re also keen to check out some of the local talent on the smaller stages.

What are you working on at the moment?

Whilst in the UK we will be entering the studio with Jaime Gomez to record a double A-side single follow up to our just released My Satan EP.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

One thing I from going to shows when I was younger was this band Steel Affliction. The singer used to pour gin down the gullets of the punters in the front row. At the time I thought it was the heaviest and wildest thing ever.

Jager, Hobgoblin Ale, Red Bull, Kingstone Press Cider, Kaltenberg Beer or Bulleit Bourbon? And, yes, we’ll be counting all the votes!

That’s an easy one, Jager stage represent!
