After their performance on the Sunday at HRH Metal I had the opportunity to chat with Master Charger about their performance and also their plans for the next 6 to 12 months.
You played HRH Metal on today, how do you think it went?
We enjoyed it! Being more of a doom band is slightly challenging and having to follow a really tight band made it a bit trickier but it was really good. The room was packed and the crowd that we had were really enjoying it. Overall, really good.
Are there any bands that you are looking forward to seeing?
Hopefully Rustlung as they are pretty good. Left For Red as they’re mates of ours and are a good band. There’s a lot of bands that are going to blow the roof off today.
This is the second year the festival has sold out. Can you think of any reasons why?
The quality and diverse range of bands. It’s well marketed and they’ve already announced bands for next year which is really good. The fact that there’s 3 stages helps and quality headliners help as well. There’s few clashes as well which helps with people coming to see you play.
What are your plans for the next 6 to 12 months?
We’ve got some more festivals we’re playing in the next few months. We’re competing in Metal 2 The Masses as well which has been fun. We’ve written our 3rd album and are starting pre-production hopefully soon. Depending on how things go, it might rear its ugly head by the end of the year. The hardest thing about writing is getting offered good gigs whilst you are writing new material. We have the artwork for the album and have the material written so it’s now just down to getting into the studio.
If you had to pick next year’s headliner, who would you pick?
Electric Wizard we’d say. They don’t normally play a lot of UK festivals and it would be nice to see them headline something.
Tea or coffee?
Bit of a mix really. Half of us like tea and some of us like coffee black.
