HRH Metal 2019 Interview: “Thrax” of Blood Oath

Prior to Blood Oath hitting the stage at HRH Metal, I had the opportunity to catch up with vocalist “Thrax” and discuss the previous days events and also his thoughts on why HRH Metal had sold out for the second time in a row.

You’re playing HRH Metal later on today, are you looking forward to it?

Oh, hell, yeah. I was here last night and probably had one too many but I’m definitely looking forward to it. It’s a great venue to be playing.

What did you think of Trollfest?

Man, I did not expect that! I’d heard of them before but never seen them and when they came out they were certainly a sight to behold! But I really enjoyed them.

Are there any bands that you are looking forward to seeing?

Bloodyard as they are one of our Enso roster friends. I would like to see Decapitated but we’re on at the same time again. It was the same at Bloodstock, they were on when we were backstage ready to go on. There’s a lot of good bands on today so I’m hoping to catch as many as I can. Your new favourite band might be on so it’s best to try and see as many as you can.

This is the second year the festival has sold out. Can you think of any reasons why?

It’s a tough one. It’s good to see that it is selling out and that might be due to the way it’s publicised and the bands it books. It’s a good venue as well so it could be that. They announced next year’s lineup yesterday and I’m already impressed by it.

If you had to pick next year’s headliner, who would you pick?

Oh man… that’s put me right on the spot. I’m going to go with an old favourite and say Amon Amarth. I think they’ll bring it and do well. Flotsam and Jetsam are going strong as well but I’ll need a few hours to think about that.

What’s one thing you wish someone told you before you started?

That it’s really tiring. It’s not as glamorous as you think and you end up eating poorly and travelling across parts of the country that you didn’t expect to see.

Tea or coffee?

At the moment it’s coffee. I never thought I’d say that as I’ve been a tea drinker for years but it recently has been coffee.
