With Wacken XXX looming up to stomp its big metal footprint on again this summer, we’re taking a look at a bunch of the bands who are hitting its iconic stages for the first time. Today we have UK export Lucifer Star Machine…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
The band was originally formed in London, UK but is now located in Hamburg, .
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
During the satanic panic the righteous thought the devil is in rock n‘ roll music. I wanted to make sure there’s no doubt about it when it comes to this band. The gospel of Lucifer, the morning star… hammered into your brain with the force of a hypersonic machine!
Describe your music. Who are your musical influences?
We play high-octane rock n’ roll, influenced by Motörhead, Misfits, Ramones and Zeke.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
I write about life, death and everything in between. Some songs are of a LaVeyan satanic nature.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
Our live shows are intense and high energy. We cut out the bullshit and get straight to the point. I can’t tell you how many shows we’ve played. The band‘s been going for about 17 years now and we played all over Europe.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
As I’m a big GG Allin fan in the early shows I literally rocked out with my cock out and we had on stage fisticuffs between current and ex-.
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
We got a brand new line up and we just recorded our fourth album The Devil‘s Breath. The record is currently being mixed. Once it’s done we‘ll be looking for an appropriate label.
Other than Wacken, what are your plans for 2019?
To play as many shows as possible and get a decent record deal.
What are you most looking forward to at Wacken this year?
To play to a great crowd. We know the audience and the atmosphere in Wacken are exceptional.
