#RoadToBOA2019 – Blind Divide

It’s that time of year again, when in the run-up to Bloodstock we endeavour to interview every band gracing the Sophie Lancaster, New Blood and Jägermeister stages from 8th – 11th August 2019. This means you’ve got a chance to read up on all your favourite bands set to play over the weekend and decide which new ones you’ll want to check out.

As ever, we’re predicting some horrible clashes because, true to form, there are some great bands across all three stages so you should start planning who you want to see.

Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!

Blind Divide – New Blood Stage, Friday

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

Cardiff.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

The band has been going for almost 10 years, but the current line-up has been in place since 2012.

Where does the name of the band come from?

A drunken conversation about inequality in society…?

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

A more progressive and extreme take on tried and tested groove metal.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?

As much as it’s a cliché, we really do play every show as if it’s our last. We like to reward those that come and see us with the best show we can possibly give, a full-on hate-fuelled groove fest that will either get you moshing or dancing, one of the two. There is no in-between.

Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?

A couple of us went last year, as for the rest they’ll be popping their Bloodstock cherry this year! We loved every minute of it! There were a lot of new musical discoveries for us, we were simply blown away by the talent on show, especially in the New Blood tent.

Which M2tM region did you win, or did you come through other channels?

We won South Wales M2tM.

Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Bloodstock?

We were all grinning like twats, and haven’t stopped.

What sort of setlist can we expect?

We’re going to play the same set that got us to Bloodstock in the first place – plenty of heavy groove and James screaming in your face. There may also be terrible dancing.

Which other bands do you most hope you’re not squished up next to so you can see them play?

We’re playing on Friday, so hopefully won’t clash with Metal Church, Bong Cauldron, Soulfly, Children of Bodom or Tessaract.

What are you working on at the moment?

We’re currently working on releasing a couple of singles, with an album in the works further down the line.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

We played Eradication Festival in Cardiff this year, there were plenty of strange goings on. We saw a dude strip completely naked during his set and run about the place screeching into his mic. Raised by owls also played that weekend, there was Mr Blobby, and trombones…

What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?

Truthfully, just a boring lager shandy. We have played shows a little worse for wear before now and it did not go well, so we do our drinking afterwards, which is usually anything we can get our hands on.
