#RoadToBOA2019 – Ten Ton Slug

It’s that time of year again, when in the run-up to Bloodstock we endeavour to interview every band gracing the SOPHIE, New Blood and Jägermeister stages from 8th – 11th August 2019. This means you’ve got a chance to read up on all your favourite bands set to play over the weekend and decide which new ones you’ll want to check out.

As ever, we’re predicting some horrible clashes because, true to form, there are some great bands across all three stages so you should start planning who you want to see.

Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!

Ten Ton Slug – SOPHIE Stage, Thursday

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We are based in Galway on the west coast of Ireland but from a few different places; Micheal and Sean are from Connemara, Ronan is from the Democratic People’s Republic of Cavan and Pavol is originally from Slovakia.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

5 years or so.

Where does the name of the band come from?

From the monstrous abomination that emanates riffage and lays slime upon the land.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

We play riff-laden sludge with groove and doomy flavour. Vocals are powerful guttural roars and shrieking screams.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?

Energy, craic, headbanging and groove plus we like to have fun with the crowd.

Have you played Bloodstock before? If so, when?

We played the New Blood Stage in 2016 after winning the Irish Metal 2 the Masses competition, it was amazing, it really gave us a great boost to get to the next level as a band and lots of the opportunities that came our way since were as a direct result of it.

How/when did you find out that you’d be playing the SOPHIE stage on the Thursday?

Found out a few months ago on a weekday morning. That was a good day!

What sort of setlist can we expect?

Slimy as fuck.

Which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?

We play Thursday just before Rotting Christ so no clashes, except the campsite and the Lemmy bar. Looking forward to seeing Soulfly, Grand Magus and Death Angel and of course fellow Irish bands Zealot Cult, Aesect and Black Shuck.

What are you working on at the moment?

We have a new song and a video on the way, it’ll be out the week before Bloodstock, and we plan to release an album next year!

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

There has been stage diving, crowd surfing, blood, slime, suspected slime and puke, but nothing wild really.

What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?

A pint or two of whatever really. Hobgoblin? Hobgoblin.
