It’s that time of year where we set out to interview as many of the Sophie, New Blood, and Jager bands as we can in the lead-up to one of the most anticipated festivals of the year, Bloodstock. Answering our questions here are Severenth who play the New Blood Stage on Friday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are from Chester/North Wales.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
Severenth have existed since 2007, so 14 years. We have undergone a few lineup changes over the years. There are 2 remaining from the original line up, Ben Jones (Bass) and myself, Peet Bailey (Vocals). Our drummer Dave Roberts ed in 2009, our guitarist Adam Sidor ed in 2010, and our other guitarist Jack Somers ed in 2019.
Where does the name of the band come from?
One of the original thought it was a cool word.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We are a vibrant, tech infused adaptation of Nu Metal.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Our live show is viciously energetic. We aim to give every ounce of ourselves.
Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
I have not. Certainly looking forward to it though.
Which M2tM region did you win, or did you come through other channels?
North Wales
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Bloodstock?
A blessing, a huge opportunity, a job well done, incredible.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Dual screams, huge riffs, pummeling drums and alot of energy.
Which other bands do you most hope you’re not squished up next to so you can see them play?
Cradle of Filth, Skindred, Raging Speedhorn, Devin Townsend.

What are you working on at the moment?
Finishing recording our latest EP and writing new material.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
A band we used to tour with called Monkey Fist. Incredible band. One show the singer/guitarist collapsed at the end of the set face down, the set was always crazy so we assumed it was part of the act. It was, in fact, because he was completely hammered, so we had to sort him out.
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
The 2 pint rule.
