Kunal Choksi of Transcending Obscurity Records has a lot to answer for. Giving snippets of his latest label sampler, you come across bands that you will never have heard of before but wonder why they have escaped everyone’s attention. Kunal has a knack of raiding various countries’ underground and bringing them onto the next level and share the bands’ music to the world.
You know when you come across a band that you instantly feel that they are going to make it and/or you believe in their message? Well, for the past month, I have been playing “Choked by the Void” by Lithuania’s’ Crypts of Despair religiously on Moshville Radio. Whenever you get attached to a band, you look deeper into their history, purchase their material and reach out to them. That is exactly what I did and I was honoured when guitarist/vocalist D.A. agreed to an interview and I must it, I was a bit nervous before this interview.
Talking to D.A. though, you couldn’t find a nicer person who appreciated the fact that I did reach out and further appreciated the opportunity of an interview. Well the pleasure was all mine and finding out how the songs are constructed, how far on they are with the next release and what they hope to do gigging wise made this a thoroughly enjoyable interview for the both of us.
I cannot stress enough how good Crypts of Despair are and be sure to catch their album from last year, namely All Light Swallowed.
