De Profundis are a band held with high regard in the UK extreme metal scene. After reviewing their Blinding Light of Faith album a few years ago, I stated then that this album would put De Profundis at the forefront of the UK extreme metal scene… and I still stand by that. It’s been a quiet couple of years in of the band releasing new material, so it was great to see and hear a new song entitled “Religious Cancer” on Transcending Obscurity’s label sampler released last month.
Since then, I have played the song on my dark metal show every Thursday on Moshville Radio with the band also tuning in. This led to the inevitable situation where the band and myself sat down one February night and had a chat. Thank you Paul and Shoi for the very interesting conversation and I can confirm that you have stolen the throne from Foetal Juice for my longest ever interview!
