It’s that time of year where we set out to interview as many of the Sophie, New Blood, and Jager bands as we can in the lead-up to one of the most anticipated festivals of the year, Bloodstock. Answering our questions here are Verminthrone who play the New Blood stage on the Friday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
Buckinghamshire!
How long have you been playing together as a band?
Since October 2021
Where does the name of the band come from?
We were playing around with different names and thought Verminthrone embodied the music we wanted to make.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We are a mix of groove metal, sludge hardcore. We don’t think there are many bands out that are similar to what we play.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
We bring 100% energy from the first song to the last. If you love heavy groove then the New Blood Stage is the place to be when we take the step up to it.
Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
This is our first time together as a band. have been and loved it – especially the size and the feel of the festival. Can’t beat sinking a few pint’s at Lemmy’s Bar whilst watching the main stage.

Which M2tM region did you win, or did you come through other channels?
Milton Keynes.
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Bloodstock?
An unreal flood of emotions.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Expect heavy, fast, slow, angry and emotional.
Which other bands do you most hope you’re not squished up next to so you can see them play?
Eyehategod.
What are you working on at the moment?
We have just released our debut EP and continue to write more songs for the future. [Check it out below or on Spotify! – Mosh]
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Dan had a microphone shaped lump on his head for over a week after we won at the M2TM final… otherwise Donington ’95 was a bit mental to attend. Bottle fights with quite a few being full of piss!
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
Anything wet and alcoholic!
