It’s that time of year where we set out to interview as many of the Sophie, New Blood, and Jager bands as we can in the lead-up to one of the most anticipated festivals of the year, Bloodstock. Answering our questions here are Orbit Culture who play the Sophie stage on the Sunday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are from a tiny town called Eksjö in the countryside, between Gothenburg and Stockholm.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
We’ve been together now since 2013, with some lineup changes during the years.
Where does the name of the band come from?
We struggled to develop a band name, so we just used a band name generator online, Haha.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
I think we mix a lot of different genres and inspirations. If we feel like a power metal chorus would fit in a specific song, we’d do it. We care more about trying to write the best songs than feeling the urge to stay within a box or genre.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
I think if you grew up on bands like Metallica and the bay area thrash but also are very into melodic death metal mixed with a modern touch on everything, our set might be something for you. to warm up your neck muscles!
Have you played Bloodstock before? If so, when?
This will be the first time we’ll play Bloodstock, and we can’t wait. This will be a dream come true, and we’ll enjoy every second of it.

What sort of setlist can we expect?
We’ll aim to get our more known songs in there, of course, but the whole set will be tinted towards a darker tone, so we’ll try to explore our catalog a bit and build a heavy set around that.
Which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
I think clashing with Lamb Of God would be very tough for us, Haha. As you can probably hear some spiration in our stuff, but who would watch that if you can see the real thing simultaneously on the Ronnie James Dio stage? Haha.
What are you working on at the moment?
New album is in the works! No release date yet, but you’ll hear a new single from us very soon.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
The energy between the band and the Norwegian crowd at Tons Of Rock last month will live with us for a while. The Norwegians were crazy, and that energy from a crowd will be brutal to beat!
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
A couple of beers always do the trick! Water is key too.
