Road To Bloodstock 2023: Godeth

Our regular run-down of as many of the Bloodstock bands as we can get to talk to us! Godeth play the New Blood stage on the Sunday…

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We are all from Leeds, apart from our singer Miles who was born in Brighton.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

We formed in 2018 and have been gigging since 2019. Dylan, and Danny started the band, and Luke ed shortly after. Jimmy became our bassist in early 2022, and Miles officially ed us only a few months ago in March.

Where does the name of the band come from?

Our original working name was Snowdeth but we thought it was a bit shit so our old bassist suggested Godeth as a placeholder but it stuck.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Since our new vocalist Miles ed the band, we have developed from a more Nu metal style, into what we would describe as a fusion of death, groove, metalcore and, hardcore. We don’t like to just stay in one lane and like to blend our favourite genres to create our own unique sound.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?

Our live shows are energetic and exciting, if you like to pit then we are the band for you!!

Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?

Dylan and Dan have been going every year since 2018 and it is our favourite festival by far. We have made tonnes of memories at Bloodstock and feel proud and honoured to be able to play the festival.

Which M2tM region did you win, or did you come through other channels?

We won the Leeds heat.

Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Bloodstock?

It felt crazy and unbelievable, and made us very proud.

What sort of setlist can we expect?

We will be playing a couple of old songs from before Miles ed the band, but mostly new ones that we have been playing live since he ed. We are also playing a brand new song for the first time live at the festival which we are very excited to play.

Which other bands do you most hope you’re not squished up next to so you can see them play?

Knocked Loose, Meshuggah, Pest Control, Street Soldier, Sepultura, Megadeth, Zeal and Order, Biohazard.

What are you working on at the moment?

We have our new single “Solace” coming out on the 28th July along with a lyric video for it. After that we have loads of gigs booked for the end of August and September, and we are currently in the process of recording our second EP.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

At our shows? Well the wildest thing we can think of is probably Dylan falling on his arse on stage after jumping off a drum riser, which wasn’t that crazy but was very funny and can be seen on Instagram. For the wildest thing we have seen, our performance at the Leeds final was very wild as we had loads of crowd surfers and mosh pits and was definitely our most exciting gig to date.

What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?

Water if anyone asks, but if not Jack Daniels and Coke, Jägermeister, and/or Schofferhofer.
