Our regular run-down of as many of the Bloodstock bands as we can get to talk to us! Pryma play the Jager stage on the Saturday…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
The wildest part of Kent, Herne Bay… right next door to Canterbury where Dom is barred from most places!
How long have you been playing together as a band?
Around three to four years now.
Where does the name of the band come from?
We had a previous name prior to Pryma and we had to change it, we also outgrew it. For a short period, we thought up short names such as car parts and gothic, witchcraft related words… nothing was really working until we all sat In Dom’s back garden drinking. We were crying with laughter thinking up possible names until the primer of a bullet was put into the air. A light bulb switched and we all looked at each other. We twisted the word to our own by adding a Y Since then we have been called preemer by many!
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
To answer that, you really need to get to know us. We just do what we feel is right, the music reflects that. We find it hard to put ourselves into a labelled box but, heavy rock and metal is roughly were we would be. From rapid riffs to heavy thumping bass lines, as time goes on, our experimental side has become more profound. We’re unique in the sense that we are the misfits waiting for our audience to accept us. We bring emotion, horns, blood, sweat and CO2 to our stage!
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Our show is something that we continually focus on. We care about the small details but you also have to be authentic, finding a balance can be tricky. When on stage, it’s not just about the raw emotion that goes into it, it’s about entertaining our audience, Thinking outside the box, making people engage with us, whether that’s moshing, circle pits, standing at the back arms folded, that’s up to you, but you will have a blast. We will catch your attention when you’re ing by, you’ll either be intrigued or scared.
Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
Actually no! None of us have been before but, a big but… I think this is a pretty damn awesome way to break that wall.

When/how did you find out you’d been selected to play at Bloodstock?
We previously played in Metal to the masses in Gravesend last year and made it into the finals where we had the most incredible experience meeting new people and gaining some amazing ers. This year, right out of the Blue, we get an invite to play the Jager Stage, we cannot thank Simon and Sarge enough for that. Hard Graft Pays.
What sort of set list can we expect?
Something old, something of fans haven’t heard before, something really new… our set list will blow the balls off the Jager tent.
Which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
Megadeth, Meshuggah, Sepultura, Killswitch Engage… honestly a lot. Watching other bands gives you an insight and learning curve that you can’t get anywhere else.
What are you working on at the moment?
Filthy new material. We are back in the studio recording the week following Bloodstock. We have a couple of new bangers ready in the pipeline, something we think our fans won’t be expecting.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
For Gabi, she threw up up stage during a gig in Essex, long story but not booze related! When we say an interesting performance we really meant it!
During Halloween we played a set where we all dressed up as creepy Teletubbies and threw tubby custard over our audience. That’s all we are saying about that one.
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
For Dom it would be Jack and Coke.
Ant would be choccy milk.
Max would be non-alcoholic Guinness… he makes beer yet is allergic to it!
For Gab, a cup of tea. So overall very rock n roll…
