Our regular run-down of as many of the Bloodstock bands as we can get to talk to us! Tortured Demon play the SOPHIE stage on the Saturday (and our own festival in October!)…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We’re based in Oldham, near Manchester, UK. Myself and Jacob live here, and the other guys are only half an hour away.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
Myself and Jacob are brothers, so we’ve been jamming together since we were very young, but the band started properly at school in 2018. We had numerous lineup changes, as most bands do early on, and put out our first album in 2021. We did numerous local shows, began touring, and then put out our second album this year. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind over the last year or so, but we’re building on the lessons we’ve learnt over the last 5 years. We’ve always had a drive to work hard, and be the best that we can be.
Where does the name of the band come from?
We thought it sounded cool, so we went with it. Everyone is free to come up with their own meaning though.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We aim to put a fresh spin on thrash metal, with the addition of big choruses and hooks. We make an effort to remain unique and stay on our own path, to try and stand out in the current scene. It excites us to be doing something different, but to still be gaining new fans too.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
We pour everything we have into our live shows, and Bloodstock will be no different. We always work hard to put on the heaviest and most intense show possible, without just being a wall of unlistenable noise. Expect an intense 30 minutes of thrash to wake you up on Saturday morning!

Have you played Bloodstock before? If so, when?
We played the Jagermeister Stage in 2021 and the audience started to literally tear the tent down. It got pretty close to the whole thing collapsing and the stage had to be closed for repairs following our set. We’re super stoked to be returning on a bigger stage this year, and even more excited to see everyone again.
How/when did you find out that you’d be playing the SOPHIE stage?
We got the phone call whilst we were in the studio recording our new album in October last year. We were really hoping we’d be able to come back this year, given how killer the lineup is, so it meant a lot to be asked to play. It’ll be the biggest show we’ll have done so far.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
We don’t have a very long set, but we’ll be cramming in as many tracks from our new album Rise Of The Lifeless as we can, along with some older ones as a throwback to our Jagermeister Stage performance two years ago. We feel we’ve got a very balanced, but intense setlist together, and we can’t wait to blast it live at Catton Hall!
Which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
We’re looking forward to seeing In Flames, Biohazard, Megadeth, Sepultura, Sacred Reich, Decapitated, and many more. All of those bands influenced us in some way when we were growing up, and it’s going to be unreal to play the same festival as them.
What are you working on at the moment?
We’ve just released our new album Rise Of The Lifeless, so we’re currently working on live shows in of it. After Bloodstock we have our first headline UK Tour in October, including the Moshville Times Oktoberfest in Glasgow, which
we are stoked about!
The full dates are:

- 12/10 – London, Black Heart
Tickets are available via our website.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Probably the tent almost collapsing at Bloodstock 2021. The crowd had to calm down the wall of death a touch to hold it up! We’re looking forward to seeing what happens at Bloodstock 2023.
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
Just Pepsi Max or water for us! It might sound boring, we know, but you’ve got to be in the right headspace. Playing technical music, you simply can’t be compromised through intoxication, as it’s not fair on the audience that wants a good show. We take pride in our live show, and always aim to deliver the best performance possible.
Thank you for having us, and thanks to everyone who’s planning on checking us out at Bloodstock. We can’t wait to see you there!
