Dead of Winter Fest has been and gone but the stench and memories from this event will live long in the memory. From a band saying that they played the best show in their thirty year live career to showing that the future is bright with new bands showcasing what there is within the UK death metal scene. A long near-twelve hour day was had but right from the very start, Ivory Blacks in Glasgow was sold out and it was a pleasure to see so many old and new faces in the crowd.
Penny Coffin established themselves as a band to watch, not just on the Scottish death metal scene but the UK death metal scene as a whole. With three EPs under their belt and a string of live performances which includes main to Deicide, that should be enough to tell you that Penny Coffin are the real deal. After their stellar performance at this festival, we simply had to have a chat with them about what they have been up to since they released Conscripted Morality in April of last year. Thankfully, they were happy to talk about their performance as well as what they have in store for us. Penny Coffin are a band to watch, ladies and gentlemen… old school death metal at its finest.
